Mr. Mrs. Torres

Dont you get tired of reading blogs that start off with "I havent blogged in a long time" well I havent blogged in forever! So to day i set aside a couple hours to just catch up on the social networking part of life!! I just got married, went on my honeymoon, and moved into a new apartment. All this happened Between May 3rd - May 14th and sanity is just being restored to me today!! The changes have been amazing. Pastor Benny was right about marriage when he told me it was nothing short of wonderful. Only if the world could get the true meaning and value of marriage. I am in aww of how much two people can love eachother. Could you imagine how much God loves us? if we can love so much, how much more can God love. Wow. There is just a new level of excitement i have about life and the gift of life that God has given us. There is a WAY of living that God wants us to live. This WAY is what fullfills our every need. This WAY is the pursuit that everyone seeks. The WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIGHT.

Cant wait for Freedom Culture Church plant in April 2010. We will spread the Joy that has been given to us.

thinking and working hard

So I'm at work its 0235hrs and I am wide awake thanks to a wonderful thing called coffee. Another thing I'm grateful for is having Internet on my cell phone. Well I'm just thinking about life and how much work some of us put in to make sure that we are successful and living a priority balanced life. Um balance is something that I believe I have taken very seriously. The word balance is easily understood but I think many of us take it for granted and we don't understand its importance. I have seen this in many of my relationships with people throughout my life. I believe that balance is key not only in ones life but in our relationships. I've seen so many fathers not have this priority balance in there life and they end up neglecting their kids and spouse. Right know if I had it my way (flesh) I would be working 3 jobs and go to school but that would definitely hurt my relationship with my fiance and with what God has called me to do. so there are certain limitations I've learned to put on things and I'm still trying to learn how to say "NO" to people. On another not I want to talk about trusting God. This is a tough topic for me because I think one of my greatest strengths is that I trust God with everything in my life so its hard for me to understand why someone would struggle with it but I have seen some struggle with trust and even I question some things in my life at times. Some of us let confusion and gossip shake us from trusting that God has us in the right path. Now if one isn't following God 100% there's not much guidance he can give you. But if we are we should not be shaken by what people say or be discourage because everything isn't going as planned. Be reminded that everything isn't always going to go as planned because its not our plan its HIS. So please let's not let confusion or gossip or discouragement ruin the plan God has for our lives. Especialy if we are leaders. Remember the bigger pictue. Let's remember to not be triggered by anger but with compassion. Let's learn from our triles. God, fiance, Friends, school, 2 jobs and, freedom culture church. That's a beautiful life. A life built on the Rock. Love God, Love people, = Love life. God Bless.

Learning

All of the graphics I have done have been for Freedom Culture. I have never been the media type but I have to say its growing one me. Although most of the stuff I do are images and things I find online I have become interested on how these graphics are done from scratch. So since I have learned a little by just playing around with adobe photoshop I'm going to take it a step forward and actually try and learn how the professionals use this program as well as how to use adobe illustrator. Well pray for me. I'll need it!

News

Wow so a lot has happened since i last bogged. Freedom Culture has been going great. The gatherings have been nothing short of amazing. It has been filled with fellowship, preaching, worship, and most importantly the presence of God. Since I last blogged we have gone bowling, had a Starbucks outing, went to a Christmas play, passed out water, and had a couple core meetings. The holidays were pretty hectic and I'm actually happy that we've got this new year started. It is going to be a big year for me. #1 I'M GETTING MARRIED!!! I cant wait. I truly cant wait. I'm feeling the financial stress but God has always provided for me and I know he'll will bless me. #2 I'm getting my AA in Criminal Justice. Its going to be big for me because I never considered myself College material. The crazy thing is I don't want to stop going to school into there is a "Dr." in front of my name! (God give me strength!). Well Freedom Culture will be meeting every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. We are starting ComeUnity groups on the 23 of Jan. I'm very excited about whats in store for Freedom Culture. I believe that we will and we are helping our community and will be light in the mist of darkness. stat tuned. God Bless.

just got a little to say!

well me and my lovely fiance joined Pastor Benny and Sharon Salas and went to a leadership meeting where Pastor B was asked to speak at. It was at Kingdom Covenant down in Kendall. He gave a message that was titled "From hurting to helping". I encourage you to read his blog to get more detailed information. It was great to hear him speak today as the word was just filled with God's presence. I think as leaders we all want to be the best we can be but even we will fall and must understand that its not about being perfect but being persistent and persevering through our downfalls and stupid mistakes. I say stupid mistakes because the story that Benny shared out of the bible was about Peter's stupid mistake and how he still ended up loving God and spreading his word even though he betrayed and denied him. We must learn that we will make mistakes or will be hurt by others but we must look for God to pick us back up again and look to Him for love and strength. Its crazy to say this but I think leaders get hurt or caught up helping the hurting that they don't realize that they themselves are hurting also. Some leaders don't deal with this hurt and they eventually forget the examples of the love of Jesus towards people. Now don't get me wrong Jesus laid down the law many times but he never did it with any hate or because he didn't love someone. It is so important for us leaders not to become critical or judgmental with one another. Now that doesn't mean that we cant discuss our differences because if we are to call ourselves believers of God we must stand as people that will unite and stand against sin and unrighteousness. We must be able to represent and live out the characteristics of God the father. Today I was just singing a little bit while I was cooking some food and when I laid down I just started thanking God for his joy. Many leaders lose this joy and we get so caught up in pouring out to people that ministering becomes our job, ministering should be our passion or mission. Remember to all leaders reading this, please lets remember the joy of our salvation. Before we share the message of the bible and the love and commandments (following God isn't always easy and lovey dovy!) of God be joyful that we are saved by His love and mercy. Lets be kind to one another. Lets never be critical and sarcastic. We must encourage one another. And help one another when we see each other maybe stumbling or discouraged. I just feel so grateful that I know God and cant imagine what life would be without having a chance to read the bible and experience the presence of God. And I feel like there are so many people that are missing out on life. And there is so much we can do to help these people. Love God ~ Love People = Love Life

Freedom Culture

I haven't gotten to talk about our last gathering. Ive been reading everyone else's insight on the gathering (just Diana's and Sharon's). I encourage everyone to read what they had to say. It was awesome. Diana and Jerry led worship. It was great to see Diana up there as she is one of our core leaders. We our developing as a ministry team. I don't think leaders understand how important it is to develop a relationship with one another. I truly believe that God is bringing our team closer together and I believe that he is going to test our character and commitment many times in the upcoming months. Although most of us have been tested and there is no doubt about our leadership ability, we just believe that theres always room for improvement. After the gathering we all met up at Pastor Bennys house and played pictionary, which Sharon kept begging us to play!! I'm glad we did though cause I actually enjoyed it! It was fun. My personal favorite game right now has been playing Jenga before and after the gatherings with Ramiro and my (beautiful fiance) Janyl.
I myself am trying to contain myself in these beginning times. I get so excited after our gatherings and want to start all kind of stuff to help people I just keep reminding myself that this is just the beginning. I start thinking about throwing concerts ( I really love doing that!), starting all type of juvenile programs, starting a tutoring program, starting a youth group, just all kinds of stuff my mind just goes and goes.! But we are getting some really important things down right now with freedom culture. We just simply want to spread the love of Jesus Christ to our community. We as a group really care for people and care about following the message of Christ. We whole heartily want people to experience Jesus and not just experience church and its programs. So here are some pic's from the gathering as well as the graphic shown above. Here are some of the scriptures Pastor B used in his message about one of our core values "care": Micah 6:8, Matthew 9:35-38, Matthew 14:13-17 & 15:32-36, Matthew 5:13 – 16, Galatians 6:1 , Galatians 6:2-9, Matthew 22:37-40.

Pastor Benny, Ramiro, and I were able to just hang out and just chill this past Tuesday. It was pretty cool to just chill and not talk about anything special. I think the "church" lacks in this aspect. Benny made us some good food, which was greatly appreciated.
